PFT’s NFL Picks of Week 3 2022

Last week was not the best for us. Was it great for those who choose the games?

Strange results punctuated the list of 16 competitions. A 3-0 in the last few prime time games brought me to 0.500, to 8-8. Finished MDS 7-9.

For the year, I have 17-14-1. MDS is 14-17-1.

This week, once again we disagree on five games. For all choices, scroll out.

Steelers (+4.5) to Browns

The taking of MDS: Steelers defense misses TJ Watt and their offense is not very good. The Browns bounced back from last week’s shocking defeat with a solid home win.

The choice of MDS: Browns 24, Steelers 13.

The taking of Florio: Who has a player-only match after two games? The Browns, apparently. In a short week, it may be too much to expect the Browns to put the wasted opportunity against the Jets behind them.

Florio’s choice: Steelers 20, Browns 14.

Texans (+3) to Bears

The taking of MDS: This Texan team looks better than I expected, while the Bears seem not to believe in Justin Fields and are calling games to avoid having to do a lot. I like upset Texans.

The choice of MDS: Texans 17, Bears 14.

The taking of Florio: The Bears gave the Packers more of a fight than expected, with the final score misleading. The Texans’ ability to equalize the Colts looked much worse after the Colts were taken from the goose eggs by the Jaguars.

Florio’s choice: Bears 17, Texans 13.

Raiders (-2) to Titans

The taking of MDS: The Titans are perhaps this year’s biggest disappointment, a No. 1 seed from last year that looks like a team under reconstruction this year. The Raiders get their first win of the season.

The choice of MDS: Raiders 23, Titans 20.

The taking of Florio: How are the Raiders favored in this? They lost a 20-point lead at home. And while the Titans were wiped out on Monday night, it was the Bills. In a 0-2 team battle where one has a new regime and the other doesn’t, I take the one that doesn’t.

Florio’s choice: Titans 24, Raiders 20.

Chiefs (-6.5) to the Colts

The taking of MDS: The Colts are a mess right now. I have a hard time seeing them even keeping it close to the Chiefs.

The choice of MDS: Chiefs 31, Colts 10.

The taking of Florio: The Chiefs once lost a huge lead during a playoff match at Indy. It won’t happen again.

Florio’s choice: Chiefs 41, Colts 17.

Invoices (-5.5) to the Dolphins

The taking of MDS: The Bills have accelerated the competition for two weeks in a row and will continue to move forward against a Miami side that is also 2-0 but not in the same class as Buffalo.

The choice of MDS: Banknotes 28, Dolphins 17.

The taking of Florio: The Buffalo defense should be better equipped to make one or two stops of the Miami attack than the Miami defense of the Buffalo attack.

Florio’s choice: Banknotes 38, Dolphins 31.

Leoni (+6) in Vikings

The taking of MDS: The Lions attack is better than you think, but their secondary will fight Justin Jefferson and the Vikings will score a narrow victory.

The choice of MDS: Vikings 35, Lions 31.

The taking of Florio: This has become a big underhanded rivalry, with a couple of barnburners in 2021. Vikings should be able to win at home. Whichever team prevails, the final score should be close enough for the Lion to cover.

Florio’s choice: Vikings 27, Lions 24.

Ravens (-3) to the Patriots

The taking of MDS: Lamar Jackson is playing some of his best football right now, and will be cruising to a big game in New England.

The choice of MDS: Ravens 31, Patriots 20.

The taking of Florio: If Baltimore manages to get JK Dobbins back, the attack would get a major boost. Apart from Lamar Jackson, no one is capable of generating real racing yards for the Ravens. Meanwhile, the New England crime continues to be a work in progress,

Florio’s choice: Ravens 24, Patriots 14.

Bengals (-4.5) to the Jets

The taking of MDS: After a tough first two weeks, the Bengals will finally get on the scoreboard with a high-scoring win against a team of Jets with a terrible defense.

The choice of MDS: Bengals 38, Jet 27.

The taking of Florio: The Bengals are getting desperate. The fact that they were defeated by the Jets last year will make it less likely that they will take the Jets lightly.

Florio’s choice: Bengals 31, Jet 24.

Eagles (-6.5) to the commanders

The taking of MDS: Jalen Hurts vs. Carson Wentz is supposed to be a fun bout, and I love that Hurts gets the better of it and shows why the Eagles were wise in making him their franchise quarterback.

The choice of MDS: Eagles 28, Commanders 20.

The taking of Florio: The Eagles look like a team of destiny. It is something that commanders have not been like in more than 30 years.

Florio’s choice: Eagles 31, Commanders 17.

Saints (-3) to Panthers

The taking of MDS: The Panthers rebuild didn’t take off under Matt Rhule, and it’s running out of time to turn things around.

The choice of MDS: Saints 17, Panthers 10.

The taking of Florio: If Matt Rhule doesn’t win this, he might not make it to the end of the season. (He Might not make it anyway.)

Florio’s choice: Panthers 23, Saints 20.

Jaguars (+7) to Chargers

The taking of MDS: The Jaguars have played impressive football for new manager Doug Pederson, and a surprise here wouldn’t shock me, but I think they won’t be up to par against Justin Herbert and a good offense from the Chargers.

The choice of MDS: Charger 28, Jaguar 27.

The taking of Florio: Jags are on the rise. They are good enough to hold him close and maybe win him.

Florio’s choice: Charger 24, Jaguar 20.

Rams (-3.5) to Cardinals

The taking of MDS: NFC West looks wide open right now, but in this great match I love that the Rams claim they are still the best team in the division.

The choice of MDS: Rams 30, Cardinals 17.

The taking of Florio: Kyler Murray looks like a different player when he has mobility and is given the green light to use it. In the playoff game against the Rams, he was not healthy. Hey now he is. #LetKylerCook.

Florio’s choice: Cardinals 30, Rams 23.

Falcons (+2) to Seahawks

The taking of MDS: I don’t have high hopes for the Seahawks this season, but I see them improve to 2-1 against an overwhelmed team of Falcons.

The choice of MDS: Seahawks 24, Falcons 20.

The taking of Florio: Seattle may not be a great team, but they are good enough to beat the Falcons at home. If not, Drew Lock time is coming.

Florio’s choice: Seahawks 17, Falcons 14.

Packers (+1.5) to Buccaneers

The taking of MDS: The Buccaneers defense has been excellent so far this season and he will play well against Aaron Rodgers in what will be a close, low-scoring match.

The choice of MDS: Buccaneer 17, Packers 16.

The taking of Florio: The Bucs are moving towards a team that likes to run the ball and play defense. Whatever it takes to win. And it will be enough to win on Sunday.

Florio’s choice: Buccaneer 23, Packers 20.

49ers (-1.5) to the Broncos

The taking of MDS: Jimmy Garoppolo is better than Trey Lance, which means the 49ers have a better chance of winning in the short term, however unfortunate Lance’s injury was for the 49ers’ long-term plans. They will win a tough battle against Russell Wilson and the Broncos.

The choice of MDS: 49ers 24, Broncos 20.

The taking of Florio: Something is wrong with this line. The Broncos are tangled up in the mechanics of call calling. The 49ers have an elite roster. Now that the quarterback’s situation has been resolved, he’s looking for the 49ers to start thriving.

Florio’s choice: 49ers 34, Broncos 20.

Cowboys (+2.5) to the Giants

The taking of MDS: Yes, the Giants are 2-0, but they’re not as impressive as a 2-0. Yes, the Cowboys are without Dak Prescott, but Cooper Rush has proven he can adequately replace him. I’m surprised the Giants are favorites.

The choice of MDS: Cowboys 28, Giants 20.

The taking of Florio: Some 0-2 teams should win. Some 2-0 teams are bound to lose. The Giants will lose and the Cooper Rush Cowboys can do enough to win.

Florio’s choice: Cowboys 21, Giants 17.
