San José (California) [US]Sept. 22 (ANI / PRNewswire): Super Micro Computer, Inc. (SMCI), a world leader in enterprise computing, storage, GPU, network solutions, and green computing technology, is once again extending its lead in computing infrastructure accelerated, being the first to market with second generation NVIDIA® OVX ™ systems.
The Supermicro OVX server is based on the new L40 GPU in a 4U 8GPU server with dual Intel CPUs, 32 DIMMs, 8TB of memory, 12 PCI-E slots and up to 24 drive bays. Additional servers using the L40 GPU include a range of Supermicro systems: the 4U 4GPU rackmount / workstation, the 2U with up to 6GPU, the 1U 4GPU and the 2U 2Node multi-node system. All of these systems support NVIDIA L40 PCI-E based GPUs.
“Supermicro is once again the industry leader by being the first to market with the second generation OVX server,” said Charles Liang, president and CEO of Supermicro. “Our most demanding customers require the integration of the fastest CPUs and GPUs for immersive, low-latency experiences. Our OVX server is designed to build and manage the most complex Omniverse Enterprise applications on a large scale.
These new servers offer the revolutionary graphics, artificial intelligence and network performance needed to create and manage immersive 3D virtual worlds. Supermicro’s OVX systems are purpose-built for creating and managing NVIDIA Omniverse ™ Enterprise applications at data center scale and combine the most advanced NVIDIA RTX accelerated graphics and artificial intelligence capabilities with secure, high-speed networking and management of company level.
The NVIDIA L40 GPUs will be incorporated into the current generation of Supermicro and the next generations of systems will be based on Intel and AMD platforms. Next-generation Supermicro systems leveraging the L40 GPU will include the 4U 8GPU server, 4U 4GPU server, and 2U and 1U servers and workstations. Each Supermicro OVX server is powered by up to eight NVIDIA® L40 GPUs, bringing the power of the NVIDIA Ada Lovelace architecture to accelerate Omniverse workloads. These systems combine GPUs with three NVIDIA® ConnectX®-7 SmartNICs, high-performance CPUs, and NVMe storage into a unified platform and will be available soon. The next generation of artificial intelligence applications will require an optimized computing platform for creating graphically rich and physically accurate virtual worlds. Supermicro OVX systems are ideal for supporting this ongoing development of the industry.
“Supermicro OVX servers are computing systems built specifically for building and operating NVIDIA Omniverse applications at a data center scale,” said Kevin Connors, NVIDIA’s vice president of OEM accounts. “This second generation Supermicro OVX server is optimized to enhance the creation and operation of immersive and photorealistic 3D models, simulations and digital twins.”
