Apex Legends Mobile’s mid-season Hyperbeat update has brought many new events to the mobile version of Respawn’s hit battle royale. The latest in this series of events, a limited-time TDM-focused event called Deathmatch Mayhem launched this week, giving players access to all kinds of new rewards. The event challenges players to complete in-game achievements, called Trial Tasks, in exchange for free in-game loot.
Players who complete each trial task will also be rewarded with the legendary Marble Carapace Fade skin, a mobile-only cosmetic for the game’s first ever mobile-only legend. Free Fade skins are hard to find, so this is one event Main Fades won’t want to miss. Read on for a step by step guide to help you complete the Deathmatch Mayhem event and claim your rewards as quickly and easily as possible.
You will most likely encounter a splash screen advertising the Deathmatch Mayhem event when you launch the Apex Legends Mobile app. Select “Go!” It will take you directly to the event hub, but if you accidentally scroll through it or it doesn’t appear, you can navigate to the hub manually by selecting the purple “Seasonal Event” banner on the right side of the main lobby screen. From there, select the limited-time tab at the top of the screen, then select “Deathmatch Mayhem” from the vertical event list on the right side of the screen.
The event consists of six test missions and an additional final challenge that will earn you the Fade Marble Carapace skin. To access the final task, you must complete the first six. You can only complete one trial activity per day, after which the next activity will unlock at 5:00 PM PT / 8:00 PM ET. Don’t worry too much, though – if you miss a trial activity, you can complete a recovery mission. Recovery missions give you access to a bonus activity, which automatically unlocks the trial activity after completion. There are only a few bonus activities, however, and the game doesn’t say how many there are or what they consist of, so we recommend that you complete the trial activities in time whenever possible to make things easier.
The event trial activities and their rewards are as follows:
- Complete 2 matches in Team Deathmatch: 800 Hyperbeat Coins
- Use Ultimate Ability 2 times in Team Deathmatch mode: 1 mission card
- Get 10 assists in Team Deathmatch mode: 50 Flux
- Kill 3 enemies in a single TDM match: 1,500 Hyperbeat Coins
- Win 2 matches in Team Deathmatch mode: 5-pack
- Take down 3 enemies with SMGs in Team Deathmatch mode: 2,000 Hyperbeat Coins
- Kill 10 Enemies in Team Deathmatch Mode: Marble Carapace Fade Legend Skin (Common)
Don’t forget that the challenges of this event must be completed in Team Deathmatch mode – kills and takedowns in other game modes do not count towards completing the test activity.
In addition to the Fade skin, players who complete all test missions will receive a total of:
- 4,300 Hyperbeat Coins (used to redeem free cosmetics from the Hyperbeat Store)
- 1 Mission Card (used to automatically complete seasonal missions)
- 50 Flux (used to redeem Legend skins in the “Crafting” section of the in-game store)
- Pack of 5 pieces (10 pieces per pack can be combined to form a single Syndicate pack)
Despite being a common tier loot, Fade’s marble carapace skin is actually pretty neat and is more on par with a rare tier skin in terms of quality. The cosmetic gives Fade’s skin a spooky look as well as altering the look of his suit and mask, so this event is definitely worth it for players who are big fans of the grumpy legend or those who simply want more currency to unlock the their favorite skin from the VIP section of the Hyperbeat Store.
The Deathmatch Mayhem event ends September 27 at 5pm PT / 8pm ET.
